The multi-coloured Standard Poodle is the original of the Poodle breed going back many many centuries. Breeding only solid coloured poodles was a FAD started in the early 1900's and for the next 70 plus years breeders culled(killed) any pups born with their natural markings keeping only the solid coloured pups. Solids were rare....and the wealthy that bred dogs wanted the RARE poodle....so that is why archaeic thinking people almost brought the parti, the original coloured poodle to the verge of extinction. Those days, breeders andarchaeic view points are long gone and themulti-colour has made a wonderful comeback as it is it's historical right. This colourful water dog has been here since the days of the Egyption Eras.
Standard Poodles are widely used for therapy and service work due to their amazing temperaments and high ability to train. They are simply fabulous family companions that will give you many years of joy and laughter.
Standard poodles are also proud, dignified and elegant . They have lovely, sweet personalities and are caring in nature. They should be friendly even if a bit reserved. Emotional and intuitive, they can understand your moods sometimes better than you can yourself. They prefer to be around people and if they had their way would spend the entire day with you.
